Research scholarship

Twice a year, the Max Weber Network Eastern Europe awards research scholarships of one- to three-month for research on historical topics in archives and libraries in the post-Soviet states (except Russia and Belarus) and in Finland. CfAs are published on April 1st and October 1st.

The scholarship program is aimed at young researchers in the humanities and social sciences at universities and research institutions in Europe or the South Caucasus. The objective of the program is to promote qualification projects that research the history of the Soviet Union and its predecessor and successor states as well as the transnational and transregional contact zones of these peoples and states with other neighboring (imperial) states and their relationship with Germany. Applicants must have at least a Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification (state examination, diploma) in the humanities and/or social sciences, be affiliated with a university or research institution in Europe or the South Caucasus and be pursuing a research project there that serves the purpose of further academic qualification.
